STUDIO LINE: This is the first line of home and tableware that I have ever produced. I like the simplicity and functionality of this first line with all its handmade imperfections. Looking back at the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century with its focus on simple form and handmade quality, these pieces are stamped and numbered made in limited editions.

KAUAI LINE: On February 28th 2009 Jordan and Sam Moore celebrated their wedding on the beautiful island of Kauai. This line was inspired by the beauty and luscious color that I saw everywhere I looked. These being two of my favorite people in the world, I decided to create a line that would encapsulate the simple joy and happiness of having them in my life.

'Dentelle et guirlandes' Collection: ‘Dentelle et guirlandes’ which translates to ‘Lace and Garlands’ is a collection of fine porcelain ware inspired by the Victorian decorative arts and 20th century Art Nouveau. The Dentelle et guirlandes line was conceived in May of 2009 by Stephanie Kao and Robert Siegel. Each piece in this collection is hand thrown, hand painted, and signed by both artists. NEW IMPERIAL PORCELAIN: In 2006 I went to Jingdezhen, China for the first time. I was absolutely blown away by the history and tradition of Porcelain making that has existed there for close to 1500 years. I quickly became friends and colleagues with Jackson Li, the founder of the Sanbao Ceramic art Institute, a beautiful ceramic village intent on keeping the history and ancient traditions alive. I returned three times over the next two years and in 2009 together with Jackson, created the New Imperial Porcelain line. Inspired by the ancient craft and tradition, each piece is hand crafted by master potters using the same masterful techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.

CLAY AND GLAZE: I use a very fine parian- like porcelain clay body which is very white and translucent when thin. I fire my work between cone 6 and cone 10 which is aorund 2300 degrees Farenhiet, at which point the porcelain vitrifies. Vitrification is the process by which ceramic is made into a non-porous glass like substance through heat fusion. Vitrification is absolutely necessary for dinnerware to be considered food safe.

All of the glazes used in my studio meet all FDA requirements for food safety and are lead and cadmium free.

My work is quite durable however; breakage, metal marking and glaze abrasion can occur. The reason for this is that the ceramic itself is much harder than the silverware itself and most markings will come off with a good scrub. All work is dishwasher and microwave safe but should still always be handled with care.

All of the work produced in my studio is completely handmade, meaning we currently use no molds or industrial processes of any kind. Shape, size, and color will vary slightly form piece to piece as every piece is unique and slightly different.
